Here at Hendy Toyota, we were thrilled to see the Corolla named overall winner in its category at the prestigious What Car? Car of the Year Awards 2020.
Toyota had a successful night at the consumer motoring magazine's 43rd annual awards, held at Grosvenor House, London, with the brand being highly commended in numerous prize groups.
Toyota's eco-friendly models performed especially well, with both the Yaris and Corolla winning their price brackets in the Best Hybrid Car category.
The Corolla 1.8 VVT-I Hybrid Icon Tech was crowned overall winner of the category having also won the £20,000 - £30,000 price group. Judged on low running costs compared with petrol and diesel equivalents, low CO2 emissions and the same usability as a regular car, the Corolla came out on top and was praised for its comfortable, quiet ride and smooth transition between electric and petrol power.
The Yaris 1.5 Hybrid Icon was the Less Than £20,000 bracket winner for its efficiency, swift handling and surprisingly roomy boot space.
The Corolla 1.9 VVT-I Hybrid Icon Tech won the £20,000 - £26,000 price band in the Family Car category with commendations for its automatic headlights, adaptive cruise control, heated front seats and rear-view camera, all as standard.
In the Value Car category, the winning vehicle in the £10,000 - £12,000 category was the AYGO 1.0 VVT-I X-Play 5dr for its high-tech standard kit, comfortable seats and economical engine.
Finishing off a great night for the brand, Toyota was also named in the Reliability Award category with a reliability rating of 98% for new cars and 88% for vehicles more than five years old.
